For AI Agents
This page is for AI agents, crawlers, and anyone building tools that read ShowBuild programmatically. ShowBuild is designed to be readable without JavaScript: every listing, category, guide, and policy page is served as real HTML, so you can fetch and parse it directly.
Machine-readable files
We publish three text files that describe the site for automated readers. Each one is linked below with a short description and a live preview of its contents.
llms.txt
view raw →A concise, LLM-friendly index of the site — the main pages, categories, and guides, with a short description of each. Follows the llms.txt convention.

llms-full.txt
view raw →The full, expanded version of llms.txt: every page on the site with its complete description, so an agent can understand what each URL contains without fetching it first.

ai.txt
view raw →A compact permissions file in the style of ai.txt that tells crawlers and AI agents what they may and may not do on this site.

How to read ShowBuild
- Every page is static HTML. You do not need a browser or JavaScript engine to read the board, listings, categories, or guides. A plain HTTP fetch returns the full content.
- Build pages live at
/builds/<slug>/and include the project name, description, category, points, author, and comments. - Category pages live at
/categories/<slug>/and list the builds in that category. - Guide pages live at
/guides/<slug>/and contain long-form articles for indie makers. - The badge page at
/badge/explains the “Featured on ShowBuild” badge and how dofollow backlinks are earned.
Crawling guidelines
- Please identify your bot with a descriptive User-Agent header.
- Do not send requests faster than 1 per second.
- Do not submit forms, vote, or create accounts through automated means.
- The content on ShowBuild is public; you may index and summarize it. Individual listings link to third-party sites whose terms may differ.
robots.txt and sitemap
Our robots.txt allows all crawlers access to all pages and points to our sitemap.xml, which lists every page on the site with its last modification date.
