Cookie Policy
Effective October 1, 2026. Last updated October 1, 2026.
This Cookie Policy explains how showbuild.co (“ShowBuild”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website. It works alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more broadly.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time. Browsers also store similar data in local storage, which works the same way for the purposes described here.
The cookies we use
ShowBuild keeps cookies to a minimum. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party behavioural advertising cookies. The cookies and local storage entries we do use fall into two categories:
| Cookie / storage | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session token (Supabase) | Keeps you signed in after you log in so you do not have to re-enter your credentials on every page load. Without it, features like voting, commenting, and submitting builds would not work. | Until you sign out or the session expires | Strictly necessary |
| Umami analytics | Privacy-friendly, first-party analytics that measure aggregate page views and visits. Umami does not use cross-site tracking, does not sell data, and does not build personal profiles. No personally identifiable information is collected. | Up to 1 year | Analytics (privacy-friendly) |
Strictly necessary cookies
The session token that keeps you signed in is strictly necessary for the Service to function. Without it, you could not stay logged in between page loads. These cookies cannot be switched off in our system, because the Service would not work without them.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that is self-hosted and does not rely on third-party advertising networks. Umami collects aggregate, anonymised metrics — such as total page views and the number of visitors — so we can understand which content is useful and improve the site accordingly.
Umami does not track you across other websites, does not collect personal data such as your name or email address, and does not sell or share data with advertisers. It is not subject to the same concerns as advertising trackers, but we mention it here for full transparency.
We previously used Google Analytics. It has been removed and is no longer loaded on any page.
Cookies we do not use
- Advertising cookies. We do not show ads and do not use advertising cookies of any kind.
- Cross-site tracking cookies. We do not place cookies that follow you to other websites.
- Third-party behavioural profiling. We do not share data with advertising networks for profiling.
- Social media tracking pixels. We do not embed tracking pixels from social platforms.
Controlling cookies
You can view, delete, or block cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse new cookies and delete existing ones. If you block the session token, you will not be able to stay signed in, but you can still browse the public board, listings, and guides.
Because Umami analytics is privacy-friendly and does not build personal profiles, we do not show a cookie consent banner. If you prefer not to be counted in aggregate analytics, you can block the Umami script in your browser or use a content blocker.
Google Sign-In
If you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies as part of the authentication flow on Google’s domains. These are governed by Google’s privacy policy, not ours. We do not control the cookies Google sets on its own domains.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if we add, change, or remove cookies. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. If we introduce a new category of cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will update this page and provide a way to consent before it is set.
